The newly developed NCMA Tysons Corner Chapter Intermediate Contract Series (ICS) will be hosted by Accenture and SAIC beginning on Friday January 29, 2010 and continuing through April 20, 2010.  This 8-part series is designed for mid-level Contracts and Procurement professionals as well as more experienced professionals seeking either a refresher course or exposure to topics they are not familiar with.  The knowledge obtained from these courses can be taken back to the office for immediate use.  These classes are a great source for CFCM, and CPCM certification & recertification points.  The courses are taught by volunteer professionals from varies firms who are experts in their respective fields.


Class 1 – Source Selection Procedures. 
Instructor: Marlys Norby, Booz Allen Hamilton
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class focuses on the process through which the government assembles information, reviews and selects sources to complete the mission.

Class 2 – Acquisition Planning. 
Instructor: Marlys Norby, Booz Allen Hamilton
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class discusses the Big and little “A” of acquisition for the full business life cycle.  Not exclusively DoD 5000 as issued 8 DEC 2008, but heavily influenced and discusses all facets of products and services to be acquired for the Government to meet its mission.

Class 3 – Cost Accounting Standards/Cost Principles. 
Instructor: Mark Hoffman, CostTrend Consulting, Inc.
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class covers CAS and Cost Principles as identified in FAR Parts 30 and 31.

Class 4 – Surviving a CPSR Audit. 
Instructor: Tabitha Cucciardo, Paragon Communications Solutions, Inc.
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Mar. 16, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class is designed to educate the attendee on achieving successful results from a CPSR Audit.

Class 5 – “Know the Market.” 
Instructor: Johanna Klema, Social Security Administration
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class focuses on FAR Part 10, Market Research.  The objective is to increase the student’s awareness of the requirements and benefits of Market Research.

Class 6 – Intellectual Property & Data Rights. 
Instructor: Alex Carroll, Carroll and Carroll Assoc.
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Mar. 5, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Mar. 30, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class focuses on IP and Data Rights from a more senior perspective, and includes a case study.

Class 7 – Terminations. 
Instructor: David Black, Holland & Knight LLP
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Mar. 12, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Apr. 13, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class covers major issues in both Terminations for Default and Terminations for Convenience – FAR Part 49.

Class 8 – “Small Business Lingo.” 
Instructor: Angie McKinster, Alion Science and Technology Corp.
Dates and Times:
Reston: Friday, Mar. 19, 2010, 7:30 a.m.

Tysons: Tuesday, Apr. 20, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

This class focuses on FAR Part 19 and will educate the student on the facets of “small business.”

Class size is limited, so please register early.
